Oscars 2015 by the Numbers

The curtains for one of the most awaited glamour nights of the year have fallen, but the dazzle and drama it bought is still mesmerizing us. Sexy cutouts, classic Hollywood looks, statement jewels, hypnotizing beauties and more, Oscars 2015 had a lot to agog about. And we want to know every detail of the red carpet fashion. While everything about Oscars was interesting, I like the numbers presented by E! News.

In one of their recent news about the gala, they have mentioned some amazing figures. I understand how much research and efforts they have put to fetch the data. Without missing a moment, here are the abstracts from their finding.

Let’s start with the jewels (here we have included embellished gowns as well)

First the detailing:

80,000 hand painted sequins have adorned the Chanel Haute Couture gown of Oscar winner Julianne Moore. Designed by Karl Lagerfeld, it was sewn by 27 people in just 987 hours.

6,000 pearls were sewn together to create the custom Calvin Klein Collection gown of Lupita Nyong’o. This pearl affair reminded me of Queen Elizabeth of England who had 3,000 gowns mostly embellished with pearls.

With 2,000 Swarovski crystals Scarlett Johansson’s emerald green Versace dress had a true statement look. The crystals were bejeweled the collar creating a statement necklace too.

Now the Jewels

Margot Robbie’s Van Cleef & Arpels statement necklace was stunning. Not only that it valued approx $720,000, it was a vintage royal jewel. The necklace was originally created for Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor in the 30’s.

Dakota Johnson’s Forevermark jewelry was valued around $2.2 million.

$2.5 million was the value of 20-carat diamond drop earrings and three diamond and platinum rings that were worn by Jennifer Lopez. The jewelry was from Neil Lane collection.

With the 82-carat “caftan diamond” bracelet, Nicole Kidman’s Harry Winston jewelry look for the eve was estimated around $7.2 million.

Rita Ore’s Lorraine Schwartz 40-carat, Victorian-inspired diamond drop earrings, 25-carat champagne diamond ring and other jewels were roughly estimated $7.5 million. Probably the costliest jewels of the gala.

The brilliance of the jewels and the numbers tantalized me. Nevertheless, there were more of them to surprise. Read the news at eonline.com to figure them.
